Responsibilities:

Stocking: Refill pantry shelves and refrigerators with food items; rotate products to ensure freshness.

Sorting: Check expiration dates, organize food donations by type, and ensure all items meet our quality standards.

Cleaning: Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming pantry environment — including wiping down surfaces, sweeping floors, and organizing storage areas.

Assisting Clients: Help clients find the items they need and provide friendly, respectful service. (Veteran Volunteers only)

Other Duties: Support pantry staff with unloading deliveries, assembling food boxes, or other tasks as needed.

The Donation Center Cleaner/Sorter plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized donation area while helping prepare donated items for resale or distribution. This position supports the mission of the organization by ensuring donations are handled with care and facilities meet cleanliness and safety standards.

Sort donated items by category and condition according to established guidelines

Clean, sanitize, and organize donation areas, sorting tables, and storage spaces

Remove unusable or damaged items following disposal procedures

Assist with unloading, moving, and staging donations as needed

Maintain a neat and welcoming environment for donors and staff

Follow safety, hygiene, and donation-handling policies at all times

Communicate with team members regarding donation flow and needs

Position Summary: The Floor Associate plays a vital role in supporting the mission of our non-profit organization by providing excellent customer service, maintaining a clean and organized retail environment, and assisting with the daily operations of our thrift store. Floor Associates are often the face of our organization and help create a welcoming and respectful experience for customers, donors, and clients.

Key Responsibilities: Greet and assist customers in a friendly, respectful, and helpful manner. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized sales floor, fitting rooms, and common areas. Restock and merchandise items according to store standards and promotions. Assist in receiving and placing donated goods on the sales floor. Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs to management.   Help implement store policies and uphold the mission and values of the organization. Support special events, sales, or community outreach programs as required. Maintain a positive and cooperative team attitude, offering assistance to coworkers when needed.

This position operates in a retail environment and may include exposure to varying temperatures, donation materials, and busy store traffic. Floor Associates should be comfortable with a fast-paced, dynamic setting where teamwork and adaptability are essential.

The Food Pantry Neighbor Associate supports the day-to-day operations of our food pantry by helping to distribute food items to individuals and families in need. This role is essential to creating a respectful, welcoming, and efficient environment where dignity and compassion are at the forefront of every interaction.

Key Responsibilities: Greet and assist pantry clients with respect, kindness, and confidentiality. Prepare food boxes or bags for distribution according to pantry guidelines. Monitor inventory levels and notify the Pantry Manager of low-stock items or expired goods.  Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized pantry environment, including shelving, storage areas, and public spaces.  Assisting clients with taking groceries to their cars.  

Follow food safety protocols and handling procedures at all times. Help manage client flow during distribution hours, ensuring a smooth and dignified process. Work cooperatively with staff, volunteers, and community partners.

Position Summary: The Food Stocker plays a critical role in ensuring that food pantry shelves, refrigerators, and storage areas are well-stocked, organized, and safe. This position supports the overall efficiency of the food pantry by maintaining inventory flow and helping prepare the space for food distribution. The Food Stocker ensures that all food items are handled with care and according to food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities: Receive, unpack, and sort food donations or deliveries, including fresh, frozen, canned, and dry goods. Stock shelves, refrigerators, and freezers in a neat, organized, and accessible manner. Follow proper rotation procedures (FIFO – First In, First Out) to minimize waste and ensure freshness. Check expiration dates and remove any expired or damaged items from inventory. Monitor stock levels and report shortages or overstocked items to the Pantry Manager.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pantry floor and storage areas. Assist with setting up and replenishing food for distribution days. Follow all food handling and safety guidelines in accordance with local and organizational policies. Provide occasional support to volunteers or clients during busy times, as directed.

This role supports our community Pop-Up Pantry Program food distribution events by helping assemble and prepare pallets of food for delivery to partner organizations.

Volunteers will assist with lifting and stacking food items and cases onto pallets, organizing products, and ensuring pallets are safely prepared for transport. Volunteers will help prepare pallets for distribution directly to the community.

This position requires extended periods of walking, standing, lifting, bending, and squatting, and is ideal for individuals comfortable with physical, hands-on work, and are committed to serving neighbors in need.

This role helps maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment.

Volunteers will assist with standard janitorial duties including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, wiping down surfaces, removing trash, and maintaining cleanliness in area with back stocked products on industrial storage racks.

Responsibilities may include organizing supplies, helping keep walkways clear, and supporting general sanitation efforts to ensure an efficient and welcoming workspace for all volunteers and staff.

This position may require bending, lifting, and extended periods of standing or walking.

This role supports weekly product intake from a 52’ truck delivery.

Volunteers will assist with unloading pallets, sorting and processing incoming items, and organizing products for warehouse storage.

Duties include stocking items that will remain on-site and preparing products that will be redistributed to another location.

Tasks involve handling palletized goods, maintaining orderly stock areas, and ensuring products are placed in appropriate storage zones.

This position may require repetitive lifting, bending, and extended periods of walking or standing.

Assist with light cleaning and restocking at the front of the store.   Assist with bagging and handling merchandise appropriately.  Follow all store policies regarding returns and pricing.

The Electronics Tester / Assistant is responsible for evaluating, testing, and preparing donated electronic items for resale in the thrift store. This role helps ensure that all electronics are safe, functional, and accurately priced before being placed on the sales floor. Organize and display electronic items safely and attractively, assist customers in locating items and maintain a neat and welcoming store environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Test donated electronics such as TVs, radios, small appliances, computers, printers, and audio equipment

Identify basic functionality issues and determine resale eligibility

Clean, organize, and prepare electronics for display

Clearly label tested items with condition notes and pricing information

Assist with proper handling, storage, and disposal of non-working or unsafe items

Maintain a clean and organized electronics testing area

Follow safety guidelines when handling electrical equipment

Provide support to store staff as needed

The Donation Attendant is responsible for receiving, sorting, and processing donated items while providing friendly and respectful service to donors. This role helps ensure donations are handled efficiently, safely, and in accordance with donation center guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Greet donors and assist with unloading donated items

Accept and sort donations according to donation guidelines Inspect items for quality, safety, and resale suitability

Provide donation receipts when requested

Keep the donation area clean, organized, and safe

Follow proper handling procedures for various types of donations

Communicate donation policies clearly and courteously to donors

Assist with basic data tracking or reporting as needed

Support other store or donation center operations as assigned
