Position Summary: The Food Stocker plays a critical role in ensuring that food pantry shelves, refrigerators, and storage areas are well-stocked, organized, and safe. This position supports the overall efficiency of the food pantry by maintaining inventory flow and helping prepare the space for food distribution. The Food Stocker ensures that all food items are handled with care and according to food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities: Receive, unpack, and sort food donations or deliveries, including fresh, frozen, canned, and dry goods. Stock shelves, refrigerators, and freezers in a neat, organized, and accessible manner. Follow proper rotation procedures (FIFO – First In, First Out) to minimize waste and ensure freshness. Check expiration dates and remove any expired or damaged items from inventory. Monitor stock levels and report shortages or overstocked items to the Pantry Manager.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pantry floor and storage areas. Assist with setting up and replenishing food for distribution days. Follow all food handling and safety guidelines in accordance with local and organizational policies. Provide occasional support to volunteers or clients during busy times, as directed.
